Privacy Policy

MapMyLoop (“we,” “us,” or “the app”) is an iPhone application that helps you plan and record walks, runs, and bike rides. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app uses, why it is used, and how it is handled.

Information the app uses

Depending on how you use MapMyLoop, the app may process:

• Location data, including your current location and a trail of points while an activity is being recorded.
• Addresses or place searches you enter when choosing a start point or destination.
• Activity details such as route geometry, distance, duration, elevation estimates when available, activity type (walk, run, or bike), and route mode (loop, A to B, or free form).
• Saved routes and ride history you create or keep in the app.

How location is used

MapMyLoop uses location to generate routes, show your position on the map, and record the path of an active walk, run, or ride.

• While using the app, location is used for planning and live guidance.
• In the background, location may continue while you are actively recording an activity so the trail and metrics stay accurate if the screen locks or you leave the app briefly.

You can manage location permissions in iOS Settings. If you deny location access, features that depend on GPS will be limited or unavailable.

Where your data is stored

Planned routes, completed activities, and related metrics are stored locally on your device. MapMyLoop does not currently require an account and does not operate a MapMyLoop cloud sync service for your activity history.

Third-party services

To generate routes, MapMyLoop may send start, destination, and related routing coordinates to a routing provider (currently OpenRouteService). That provider processes the request in order to return a planned path and estimates such as distance or duration.

Apple MapKit and Core Location frameworks are used for map display and device location. Those services are governed by Apple’s own terms and privacy practices.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not use your location trail for advertising networks.
• We do not require social login or a MapMyLoop user account for the current app experience.

Data retention and deletion

Because activity history and saved routes live on your device, they remain until you delete them in the app or remove the app from your iPhone. Uninstalling MapMyLoop removes locally stored app data associated with that install.

Children’s privacy

MapMyLoop is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the app changes. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.
